Background Information
The CECAM Scientific Council has upgraded CECAM from its original model of one central centre, in order to respond to the urgent need for a new, strong European initiative in the domain of computational sciences (where Europe is particularly strong), an initiative that should develop alongside efforts to establish pan-European high performance computing services and should aim at sustaining and further advancing the leading role of the European simulation community at the cutting edge of development.
In harmony with these considerations, the Member Organizations of CECAM have agreed to create a new European autonomous multi-nodal structure, called CECAM, aimed at promoting cooperation
and fostering advanced research programs amongst the scientific communities dedicated to the basic research involving computationally intensive methods and its grand challenges simulation in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and Physics.
Thus CECAM has now acquired multi-nodal structure with headquarters in Lausanne, and nodes in...
